As part of the Towards Adhesive Free Timber Buildings (AFTB) research project, a newly installed wooden hanging object in the atrium of the biology building was inaugurated on Thursday, June 18. Building with wood without glue is demonstrated using the object. BenDit was created in cooperation between the institutes for steel and timber construction, professorship for timber engineering and the institute for geometry.

Davos wooden sledge from Thurgau

The “3R” company in Sulgen, Thurgau, produces original Davos sledges, between 3000 and 5500 per year.

Their core competence is the bending of the runners, explains plant manager Erwin Dreier. Solid ash wood from the area is bent using steam. Dreier tells more about the production of tobogganing in the article.
